EMIS Web Integration

Sunderland Clinical Commissioning Group comprises 40 GP practices, operating with a vision to improve the health, wellbeing and life expectancy of the residents of Sunderland, by providing joined up health and social care, underpinned by effective clinical decision-making, reducing the disparities in health across the city and achieving 'better health for Sunderland'.

The Challenge

Addressing the aims of the Estates Technology and Transformation Fund, Sunderland CCG secured funding from NHS England for practices to improve their telephone system to an advanced cloud based product that would integrate with their clinical system, book/cancel appointments 24/7, record calls, and provide statistical reports. The CCG invited a number of suppliers who met the criteria to demonstrate their system to all practices in Sunderland.

The Solution

Sunderland CCG decided to recommend their practices engage with X-on regarding the installation of Surgery Connect to handle patient communications. The integration with EMIS Web is fluid and simple to use, a popup advising staff who's calling, and providing immediate access to the patient's details. Calling the patient, or accessing associated call recordings, is also easily done via the popup: "EMIS integration saves the receptionist time looking up patient records, and being able to dial the patient from EMIS again saves time."

Sunderland CCG continue to monitor feedback from their practices where Sugery Connect has been installed, monitoring the cost benefits and the improvements in patient satisfaction: "Feedback from practices who are live is very good, with the service described as user friendly, especially for the practice managers accessing reporting information."
