VoIP Phone Connections
VoIP Setup and Connectivity Requirements
Due to the vagaries of IP Telephony and the likelihood of problems arising in less than ideal configurations, X-on require the following conditions to be met before providing VoIP connectivity.
| VoIP clients using ADSL broadband must have dedicated ADSL lines for voice calls with no sharing of data traffic. We recommend BT ADSL Max as a minimum. | |
| Only approved routers can be used. Please check with X-on. | |
| Only approved handsets are to be used - Linksys, Grandstream and Snom are approved. Please contact X-on for further recommendations. | |
| Softphones are not considered suitable for business applications. | |
| There must be sufficient backup to landlines or mobiles in the event of a reduction in call quality. |
X-on is a supplier of premium VoIP solutions and uses Tier 1 VoIP routes with the added safety of PSTN backup. However the current state of IP telephony dictates that we maintain control over the configuration of client VoIP setup. This affords us the best opportunity to maintain high standards of call quality.
