Product Check and Reserve Service
Customers can Check Availability and Reserve Products
Check and Reserve allows customers to check product availability and reserve items for later collection via SMS, Phone and the Web. This reduces the likelihood that a customer will experience wasted trips to the store when the desired product is out of stock.
Reserved items can be held for a pre-determined period, such as one day, before being returned to availability. When a product is not available it can be placed on order if desired, and the customer advised when it will available for collection.

Polling of stock availability can be done via SMS, or phone, or via a web site.
A product catalogue which includes product reference numbers works well in conjunction with the Check and Reserve service.
Example SMS Check and Reserve
| Customer sends a SMS with the catalogue number and store name to a mobile short code number e.g. A1234CR Reigate to 88199. | |
| Retailer replies with product availability, the price and the option to reserve the item. | |
| Customer responds to secure the item. | |
| If the item is out of stock then the customer can either place an order, or request to be informed when the item becomes available. | |
| The customer receives a reservation number which is used at the selected store's pick-up point to collect the item following payment. | |
| SMS messages are charged at the standard text rate. |
